Hello!

After graduating from the University of Kansas in the 90s with degrees in journalism and art history, I worked at a publishing company in the Kansas City area for about ten years until my children were born. I was fortunate to be able to stay at home with my boys until they were in elementary school, when I started volunteering in the Enhanced Learning (gifted) Center of their school.

I had always enjoyed working with children, but the volunteer work and being a member of our school's PTA rekindled a flame for teaching that I knew I always had. Putting my art history degree to work, in 2013 I started in the Department of Visual Art's Graduate Licensure Program at KU, earning a graduate degree in Visual Arts Education. I will be licensed to teach art preK through high school, and am actively working on my Masters degree in Visual Arts Education.

Since 2014 I have served as an instructor at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art in Overland Park, KS, where I teach art lessons based on museum tours. I'm also a member of the National Arts Education Association and the Kansas Arts Education Association. I'm still active in our school's PTA because as excited as I am about getting my own classroom some day, my favorite job will always be "mom."
